
Genevieve Nnaji is a Nigerian movie actress, producer, and director. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in creative arts from the University of Lagos. While at the university, she began auditioning for acting roles in Nollywood movie industry.
Genevieve actually started her acting career as a child actor in the then-popular television soap opera Ripples at age 8. She got introduced into the vibrant Nigerian movie industry in 1998 with her debuting in the “Most Wanted” movie. She has since then starred in over 200 Nollywood movies such as the award-winning film “Ijé” (The Journey), Ijele, Weekend Getaway, among others.
She got signed to a Ghanaian record label (EKB Records) in 2004 to record her debut album “One Logologo Line”. This album is an ensemble of Hiphop, R&B, and Urban music.
As a model figure, Genevieve has featured in several brand commercials like for Pronto (beverage) and Omo detergent. In 2004, she became the “Face of Lux” in a whooping sum deal. She later went ahead to launch her own fashion line “St. Genevieve”, the proceeds of which she donated to charity.
Genevieve is a screen diva to all lovers of Nollywood movies, because of her unique and energetic way of acting.
She prides in several awards and recognitions that have graced her glorious acting career. Notable among them are her movie “Lionheart” nominated for the Oscars by the Nigerian Oscars Selection Committee (NOSC), this is the first Nollywood movie getting to the apex stage of film recognition. The same “Lionheart” still went ahead to win the Outstanding Foreign Film/ World Cinema Motion Picture at the 19th Black Reel Awards (FAAAF), and other great awards.
In 2011, she was honoured as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) by the Nigerian Federal Government for her contribution to Nollywood industry.
