Dr Joseph Njagi is a Kenyan consultant gynaecologist and laparoscopic surgeon whose career has centred on advancing women’s health, particularly in the field of endometriosis.
He serves as Director of both 3rd Park Hospital in Nairobi and Maple Grove Gynaecological Centre in Kerugoya, where his practice focuses on minimally invasive surgery and multidisciplinary care for complex gynaecological conditions.
His influence extends beyond his clinical roles. Dr Njagi is the founder of the Laparoscopy Mashinani Trust Fund, an initiative established in 2017 to bring keyhole surgery to rural and underserved communities across Kenya and the wider region.
He is a founding member of both the Pan-African Society of Endometriosis (PASE) and the African Centre for Endometriosis (ACE), organisations created to strengthen awareness, diagnosis and collaborative care for a condition that affects roughly one in ten women of reproductive age.
He also serves on the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) Minimally Invasive Surgery Committee as a board member, contributing to the advancement of surgical standards and professional education across East Africa.
Described as a dedicated male ally in women’s healthcare, Dr Njagi has used his leadership positions to mentor female doctors entering the male-dominated field of surgery and to advocate for policies that prioritise women’s health services.
He is currently pursuing a Fellowship in Gynaecological Oncology at the University of Nairobi alongside a Doctoral Fellowship in Healthcare Management at Strathmore University, underscoring a career built on both clinical innovation and systemic change.
