Ademola Adebise is a Nigerian banker, and the current Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank. He had his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Lagos. He then proceeded to Lagos Business School to obtain his master’s degree in Business Management (MBA). He is also a graduate of Advanced Management Program (AMP) from the Harvard Business School.
He started his career in 1988 as a Programmer/ System analyst in a technology firm before delving into the banking world. He began work at Chartered Bank (Stanbic IBTC bank).
Adebise has since his career sojourn in banking industry worked under several leadership capacities such as, Head of Information Technology and the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Chartered Bank between 1989 and 2000; Assistant General Manager and later General Manager of the National Bank; from 2009 to 2017, he was the Executive director in charge of South Bank, Deputy Managing Director, Supervising Corporate Banking, Treasury, and Support Functions at Wema Bank.
In 2018, he was appointed as the Managing Director/ CEO of WEMA Bank by the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Adebise has a deep ocean of expertise in the banking world, as he is a professional member of The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria, The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, The Institute of Directors of Nigeria, and others.
He is the recipient of the 2009 Business Day Award for the Top 25 CEOs in Nigeria.
