South African billionaire and mining magnate Patrice Motsepe has secured a second four-year term as the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The election, held in Morocco, saw Motsepe re-elected unopposed, reflecting strong support for his leadership across African football federations.
Motsepe, who first took office in 2021, has focused on improving African football’s financial stability, expanding competitions, and strengthening CAF’s partnerships. His re-election ensures continuity in his vision to elevate African football on the global stage.
In addition to Motsepe’s re-election, Cameroonian football legend Samuel Eto’o has been appointed to CAF’s Executive Committee, marking a significant leadership addition. Eto’o, the current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, is expected to bring his expertise and experience to the governing body.
With Motsepe at the helm, CAF aims to further develop African football infrastructure, increase investment in grassroots programs, and enhance the competitiveness of African teams in international tournaments.
