World’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, has been officially honoured as a Guinness World Records (GWR) icon.
The announcement was made on Wednesday via the official Instagram page of Guinness World Records, celebrating Bolt’s unmatched legacy in global athletics.
The Jamaican sprinter was recognised for his record-breaking 100 metres sprint, completed in 9.58 seconds, a feat he achieved in 2009 at the IAAF World Championships in Berlin.
“World’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, has been officially named a GWR ICON,” the organisation wrote in its caption, alongside a photo of the eight-time Olympic gold medallist holding his framed certificate.
According to GWR, Bolt holds a string of other records, but his 100m sprint remains the most iconic and unbeaten over a decade after retirement.
The post also teased fans by asking whether Bolt could guess how long it takes others to complete the same distance, backwards, on all fours, or even in high heels.
Born in Sherwood Content, Jamaica, the 38-year-old sprinter retired in 2017 after dominating world athletics for years.
He remains the only man to win three Olympic 100m and 200m titles consecutively, earning him the title of “lightning Bolt” across the globe.
