Lanre Okoya, the son of billionaire industrialist and Eleganza Group founder Aare Razaq Okoya, has emerged from a characteristically low public profile to become a central figure in Nigeria’s agricultural transformation.
As the heir to the Eleganza Group, one of Nigeria’s most recognised indigenous manufacturing conglomerates with interests spanning household products, plastics, furniture, cosmetics and real estate, Okoya represents a new generation of leadership building upon a formidable industrial legacy.
He has cultivated a reputation as a strategic businessman with extensive experience in manufacturing operations, food production, supply chain management and industrial enterprise.
Okoya has recently attracted considerable industry attention through his alliance with entrepreneur and international business developer Les Ojugbana, son of Chief F.E. Ojugbana, founder of MADEC Associates Nigeria Limited.
The pair, who developed a strong friendship during their student years in the United Kingdom, are now partnering on major investments in NPK fertiliser and gypsum production. They have visited industrial facilities in Türkiye, and plans are underway for the development of multiple blending plants and processing facilities across Nigeria and East Africa.
Industry analysts commend the collaboration as a convergence of two respected business traditions. The Okoya family’s industrial and commercial pedigree, combined with the Ojugbana family’s technical expertise in large scale fertiliser and gypsum production operations in Türkiye, creates a formidable platform for investment.
The economic implications are substantial, with the potential to create thousands of employment opportunities while significantly reducing Nigeria’s reliance on imported agricultural inputs. This partnership marks a decisive step towards self-sufficiency in food production and industrial growth.
