For more than six decades, Doctor Kola Oyewo stood as a pillar of Nigerian theatre and cinema. His unforgettable performances in works such as Saworodie, Sango, Koseegbe, Super Story and Ola Rotimi’s classic The Gods Are Not to Blame brought depth and dignity to the screen and stage.
Beyond his artistry, Oyewo was a devoted scholar and educator, serving as a senior lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University and later at Redeemer’s University and Elizade University. He shaped generations of actors and thinkers, blending academic rigour with creative passion.
Doctor Oyewo has taken his final bow, but his legacy endures in every story he told and every artist he mentored. Duke magazine honours a life of profound cultural impact.
