WHO reiterates Adeboye’s envision: COVID-19 won’t completely go away

The health body of the United Nations, World Health Organisation (WHO), has reiterated the recent prediction made by the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, who said COVID-19 would subside soon but won’t fully go away.

It would be recalled that in a virtual service message held on Sunday, April 19, 2020, Pastor Adeboye noted that normalcy would soon return to nations of the world after the COVID-19 outbreak, and admonished Nigerians to keep the hope alive.

According to him: “This virus will rescind, but not completely disappear, only by God’s divine perfect intervention when we give Him all the Glory.”

Yesterday, May 13, 2020, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has corroborated the lingering infection of coronavirus without going away completely.

WHO’s Executive Director Emergencies Programme, Mike Ryan, on Wednesday said the coronavirus may just become one of the viruses around the world that kill people annually.

“This virus just may become another endemic virus in our communities and this virus may never go away. HIV hasn’t gone away.

“I’m not comparing the two diseases but I think it is important that we’re realistic. I don’t think anyone can predict when or if this disease will disappear,” Ryan said.

Back to date, HIV/AIDS was first clinically discovered in 1981 in the United States, and after 30 years, no vaccine has been found to cure the virus. Across the world today, over 4.31 million cases of coronavirus have been confirmed with over 294,000 fatalities recorded.

The General Overseer of RCCG, who is a former Professor in Applied Mathematics from the University of Lagos, had declared that COVID-19 would soon subside but won’t fully go away, and enjoined Christians to assist the vulnerable at their respective locale.

He said:

“After the lockdown, everyone should sanitise their environment before it finally begins to rain in the country.

“Although the nation is faced with obstacles of different kinds during this quarantine period, we’ll joyfully recover from it soon,” Adeboye advised.
