Naira Marley, a divisive Nigerian singer-songwriter also known as Azeez Adeshina Fashola, has joined the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as an ambassador to fight drug misuse in the nation.
In a statement on Thursday, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi made this information public.
He claimed that when Naira Marley visited the NDLEA’s National Headquarters, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retired), the agency’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, gave him a warm welcome.
The purpose of the conference, according to Babafemi, was to discuss practical solutions to Nigeria’s illicit drug problem.
“Music star, Naira Marley in Abuja to declare support for the War Against Drug Abuse on Thursday 17th August 2023,” he announced.
Also taking to his Instagram account, Babafemi wrote, “Watch out for the video of his message to Marlians and Nigerian youths here tomorrow.”
The 32-year-old singer in a video urged everyone to “stop substance in any form.”
“Let us all stop substance abuse in any form. I have keyed into this campaign to support the NDLEA to stop drugs on the streets. Please, join us as drug abuse is not good,” he said. Watch video below:
