Abdullah Ibrahim Uba is a Nigerian born academic working in bioinformatics, computational biology and cheminformatics. He is an Assistant Professor at Istinye University in Istanbul, Türkiye, where he teaches in the Faculty of Medicine.
His research centres on molecular modelling and computer assisted drug design for human diseases. Using detailed molecular dynamics simulations, he studies the activation mechanisms of receptors that couple to G proteins, and he analyses how synthetic and natural bioactive compounds interact with targets linked to cancers, neurological disorders and diabetes.
Uba earned a PhD in Bioinformatics and Genetics from Kadir Has University in 2018. He has held postdoctoral positions at the Beijing Computational Science Research Center in China, Rowan University in the United States and TÜBİTAK in Türkiye. He has published more than 160 papers, with over 1,400 citations and a Hirsch index of 20.
His recent work includes studies of phytochemical profiles, antioxidant activities and enzyme inhibitory effects of plant extracts, together with computational analyses of natural compounds as possible inhibitors of therapeutic targets. Through a blend of experimental and computational approaches, he contributes to the early stages of drug discovery from Istanbul.
