List of Nollywood movies to have a post coronavirus screen at the cinemas

As the humanity is looking forward to having the novel coronavirus become a thing of the past, so is everyone anticipating to get their normal lives back from the health menace. Entertainment is the thriller of life, and movies are the fun of it. 

Prior to the irrevocable interference of COVID-19, a number of Nollywood movies were billed to be screened in cinemas, this effected a backdated stance on some of the movies, with some indefinitely postponed. 

Here is the list of movies to hit the cinema at after COVID-19 pandemic.

2 Weeks in Lagos

The romance movie directed by Kathryn Fasegha, follows the love affair of Ejikeme (Mawuli Gavor) and Lola (Beverly Naya). It was initially billed for a March 27 release.

Lemonade

A film directed by Joy Idoko, stars former Nigerian Senator, Dino Melaye, Kunle Remi, Linda Osifo, and many more. It was originally billed for release in February 2020.

Instagram/ Fate of Alakada: TheParty Planner

Fate of Alakada: The Party Planner

The Toyin Abraham co-produced comedy movie was pushed back after its release date has been shifted twice. Its initial release date was April 10, 2020, but then moved back to April 3, 2020 before its release went till further notice. The movie which is star studded is the fifth installment of the Alakada franchise.

Kambili: The Whole 30 Yards

The Kayode Kasum directed movie casts Nancy Isime as Kambili, a spendthrift who decides to embark on a plan of convincing her boyfriend that she could be his dream woman. Others actors in the movie include Vanessa Akpofure, Sharon Ooja, Elvina Ibru, Toyin Abraham, and Mawuli Gabor. It was originally billed for release in June 12, 2020.

Namaste Wahala

The upcoming romantic comedy is reportedly a beautiful sandwich of Nigerian and Indian cultures. The film star Joke Silva, Richard Mofe-Damilola, Ini-Dima Okojie, and Sega Sujata.  The movie’s release date was pushed back to October 2020.

As directed by Moses Inwang, ‘Bad Comments’ follows a successful businessman who went to his dark side due to incessant bullying by internet trolls. It stars Jim Iyke, Patience Ozokwor, Chiwetalu Agu, Sharon Ooja, and music producer, Young John.

Sanitation Day

Directed by Seyi Babatope, who also doubles as Executive Producer, ‘Sanitation Day’ is set in 2016 and is based on two inspectors, Inspector Hassan (Blossom Chukwujekwu) and Inspector Stanley (Elozonam Ogbolu), who must uncover the perpetrators of a murder before sanitation day is over and movement begins.

This Lady Called Life

The movie casts Wale Ojo, Bisola Aiyeola, and others. It narrates the twists and turns of Bisola, an upcoming chef. A release date is yet to be confirmed.

The award winning science fiction film, directed by Dimeji Ajibola casts Osas Ighodaro as a brazen special trooper who returns from the war-front to find her only sister on the verge of becoming an undead following the release of a certain chemical substance. It also stars Bolanle Ninalowo, Adunni Ade, and Karibi Fubara.

Mama Drama

Starring Osas Ighodaro, Kehinde Bankole, the film tells a gripping tale of a surrogate mother. It premiered back in March but was pulled back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The movie produced by Matilda Lambert, casts Pete Edochie, IK Ogbonna, Shaffy Bello, and Blossom Chukwujekwu.

Other movies scheduled for release are ‘Soft Work’, ‘Our Jesus Story’, ‘Voiceless’, ‘Rise of the Saints’ and ‘Going Bananas’.
