The huge demand from the Chinese football club, Shanghai Shenhua, could be an impediment to Ighalo’s long-time stay at Old Trafford, home of Manchester United football club of England.

This is as a result of £20 million being demanded by Shanghai Shehua from Manchester United to be able to retain the striker who is currently on loan in the English club. Ighalo has been on loan at Manchester United since January 2020, and where he has been impressive with four brilliant goals in 8 appearances. With his rising pace of good performances for Manchester United, there have been hearsays that the English club giants are planning to offer Ighalo a permanent contract.

This dream of the Nigerian skipper might be short-lived with the whooping demand of £20 million which is far above the worth placed on the striker by Manchester United.

According to Daily Mail, the Chinese club side want their player back in time for the start of the Chinese Super League (CSL) competition in July.

Shenhua according to the report, will only allow Ighalo to stay at Old Trafford if the two clubs can agree on a permanent deal.

Manchester United are yet to proceed with talk about a permanent contract with Ighalo who has made known his intentions of spending more time with the club..

“I’m inspired with a lot of things at Man United and looking forward to spending more time with the team,” Ighalo said when he was asked about the most inspiring thing about Manchester United during a question and answer session on the club’s official Twitter account.

Manchester United coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has also made his desire of wanting Ighalo to stay beyond the loan deal known.
