by Duke Magazine

Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, is a Nigerian music sensation. His collaboration with Selena Gomez on the song “Calm Down” made history by being the first single to spend a full year on the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs list.

This information was released on Monday by the American data collection organisation Chart Data.

The popular song topped the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs list for 52 weeks.

It peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100’s main chart and at number one on the Canadian Top Songs list.

The song was also recognised by Guinness Book of World Records as the first No. 1 Hit on The Official MENA Chart, the first regional streaming chart in history.

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), which inaugurated the MENA Chart on November 29, 2022, placed it at the top of the list right away.
