Burna Boy and Fireboy DML, two prominent musicians from Nigeria, have been named winners of the 2023 BMI London Awards.
The “Most Performed Work of the Year” awards, which were given to more than 20 songs, included the two artists.
The songs “Last Last” by Burna Boy and “Peru” by Fireboy featuring British singer Ed Sheeran reached the list.
The “Impact Award” went to Richard Isong, alias P2J, a different Nigerian record producer.
The “Icon Award” went to British veteran Gary Kemp, and the “Song of the Year” honour went to American singer Doja Cat’s song with an afrobeat theme, “Woman.”
