Big Pokey, a well-known American rapper, has passed away at age 45. Late Saturday night, the rapper from Houston passed out on stage while doing a concert at a pub in the nearby city of Beaumont, Texas.
Pokey was conversing with a DJ on stage while holding a microphone, as shown in video clips from the event, when he exhaled heavily, lost his balance, and collapsed on stage.
Security personnel as well as a lady posing as a nurse flocked to his side to provide aid. After the EME arrived a little after midnight, Pokey was finally taken to the hospital. The hospital declared the rapper deceased.
The rapper’s death was announced on his verified IG page. The declaration said, “It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Milton ‘Big Pokey’ Powell.
“Big Pokey passed away … He was well-loved by his family, his friends, and his loyal fans. In the coming days, we will release information about his celebration of life and how the public can pay their respects. We ask that you respect his family and their privacy during this difficult time. Big Pokey will forever be ‘The Hardest Pit in the Litter!”
Before his death, the late rapper who put out a huge number of albums gained notoriety after DJ Screw and he worked together to establish the South’s well-known chopped-and-screwed fashion.
