His performance, which marked a significant moment in the global expansion of Afrobeats, showcased his continued dominance in the music industry. This appearance in Ethiopia followed a high-profile event in Saint-Tropez, where Davido mingled with notable figures, including Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola. During his time in France, Davido also met with a Saudi prince, confidently proclaiming himself the “King of Nigeria.”
The year 2024 has been particularly successful for Davido, underscored by his three nominations at the 66th Grammy Awards. The buzz around his work has been further fueled by the recent release of his new single, “Joy,” a collaboration with five-time Grammy winner Angélique Kidjo. The track was released on August 30, just before the submission deadline for the 67th Grammys.
