Woman Crush Wednesday (WCW): Dentaa Amoateng

Akosua Dentaa Amoateng is a Ghanaian-British entrepreneur, TV presenter, producer, and manager. She is the founder of the Ghana UK Based Achievements (GUBA) Awards, an initiative that recognizes the achievements of individuals and organizations “positively contributing to the Ghanaian community in the UK or Ghana”. Born in 1983, Amoateng has acted on several British TV shows before a delve into presenting and hosting television programs both on British and Ghanaian television programs. Notable of these is The Dentaa Show.

Seasoned as a media mogul, Amoateng has honed her skills in the promotion of Afro-culture through different facets of life. In 2011, she was named in The Future 100 Awards as a “Young Social Entrepreneur” of the year for her work with GUBA. Amoateng has since gone to don herself with prestigious laurels in recognition of remarkable feats as a woman and Black woman. 

She was awarded an MBE in the 2016 Birthday Honors of Queen Elizabeth II and also received the Ghana Peace Awards Humanitarian Service Laureate in 2017. 

Amoateng’s adroit in public relations management has given her a perk to manage and play a pivotal role in decisions made by some Ghanaian football players and the team at large. In 2020 she was appointed by Asante Kotoko S.C. as their International Relations Manager. 

Amoateng holds a degree in pediatric nursing from Buckinghamshire New University.
