On Thursday, supporters of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, flocked to the Lekki Phase 1 Gate in Lagos State to protest and seek justice for the musician’s passing.
The late singer’s management coordinated the protest, which started at five o’clock, and a tribute concert started at eight o’clock in Muri Okunola Park.
The demonstrators, who were wearing white T-shirts, performed and danced to the late musician’s songs as a final act of respect and homage.
Earlier on Wednesday, a group of Lagos residents organising under the banner of Justice for Mohbad and led by Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo protested outside the Lagos State House of Assembly, calling on the legislators to take action over the strange passing of the 27-year-old musician.
The goal of the protest, according to the movement’s leader, Ojo, was to demand justice for Mohbad’s death, who “died under some unclear circumstances,” as she spoke to Speaker of the House Mudashiru Obasa.
She said, “It is no longer news that Lagosians are agitating for justice over the death of Mr Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, who died under some unclear circumstances.
“Even though we know the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State has started an investigation over the cause of the mysterious death, we seek justice.”
The autopsy performed on Mohbad has reportedly been completed, according to the Lagos State Police Command.
In a phone chat with the media on Thursday, the state police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, verified this.
“Autopsy has been concluded,” he declared. Awaiting results.
A team from the Nigeria Police Force and the department of health exhumed Mohbad, which was the previous development.
Also, the nurse who allegedly administered an injection to the deceased musician before his passing on Tuesday, September 12, was also detained by the authorities.
