Microblogging platform, Twitter, has revealed that it will be establishing a presence in Africa with Ghana being its starting point in the continent. This move comes 16 months after Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey toured Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Ethiopia in 2019.
“As a champion for Democracy, Ghana is a supporter of free speech, online freedom, and the Open Internet, of which Twitter is also an advocate,” according to the social media.
In his response to the latest development, Ghan’a President Nana Akufo-Addo tweeted on Monday, saying Twitter’s presence was crucial for the development of Ghana’s tech sector.
Although there is no physical office yet, but the tech giant has started recruiting a brand new team will remotely work ‘aligned with our existing WFH policies’.
