On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, acclaimed actor and director Femi Adebayo welcomed the elite of Nollywood to the IMAX Theatre in Lekki, Lagos, for the world premiere of his eagerly awaited film, “Jagun Jagun (The Warrior).”
The location of the premiere was decorated with vibrant colours and a magnificent exhibition of Yoruba culture, including talking drums, regional fabrics, horses, and ushers dressed in traditional garb.
The majority of attendees also wore traditional attire including aso-oke, adire, kampala, and lace.
Some of the attendees made dramatic entrances in the style of the film, including Deyemi Okanlawon, who rode majestically into the venue on horseback.
The film, which is currently available on Netflix, tells the tale of a young man named Gbotija (Lateef Adedimeji), who was determined to become a strong warrior. He joined an elite army but incurred the wrath of the army’s warlord and leader, Ogundiji (Femi Adebayo), while also falling in love with Kiitan (Bukunmi Oluwashina).
Since its premiere, the movie has received positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have praised its plot, photography, characters, and action scene.
The Elegushi of the Ikate-Elegushi kingdom, Oba Saheed Elegushi; and actors such as Sola Sobowale, Faithia Williams, Odunlade Adekola, Adebayo Salami, Yinka Quadri, Jaiye Kuti, Muyiwa Ademola, Lateef Adedimeji and his wife, Adebimpe; Bukola Awoyemi (Arugba), Joke Silva, Ibrahim Chatta, Kunle Afolayan, Gbenga Adeyinka, Peju Ogunmola, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, aka Kiekie; Eniola Ajao, Efe Irele, Juliana Olayode, Tayo Sobola, Dayo Amusa, Kemi Afolabi, Bimbo Thomas, Adebowale Adedayo (Mr Macaroni), and Ruth Kadiri were among the notable attendees at the star-studded event.
