Israel Owolabi Adesanya is a Nigerian-born New Zealander professional mixed martial artist. As a distinguished athlete in the world of sport, he has pace his career in the ring as a boxer and kickboxer before being signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) where he is enjoying a streak of 20 wins in 20 bouts, with 15 knockouts and 5 decisive wins.
Born in 1989 in Lagos, Nigeria, Adesanya is widely regarded by analysts as one of the best strikers in the world of mixed martial arts as well as one of the most tactical in sport’s history and as of May 2020, he is number 4 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings. Owing his martial arts career to the mistreatments he experienced in high school in New Zealand, the orthodox fighter have outstanding in the ring for about a decade now.
As a fan of anime, Adesanya coined his nickname “The Last Stylebender” in reference to Avatar: The Last Airbender, with so much passion that he tatted the image of one of the show’s main characters, Toph Beifong on his forearm.
The 31-year-old Black athlete is a recipient of many awards incognito belts as a boxer, kickboxer, and martial artist. Adesanya is currently the UFC Middleweight Champion.
