Ohimai Atafo is a Nigerian fashion entrepreneur. He is the creative director of the bespoke fashion label, ATAFO, which is a fashion with a specialization in bespoke suits and traditional outfits for both men and women, alongside a special focus on wedding and evening dresses.
Born in 1977, Atafo’s attention to detail has tailored his brand into the international realm and is a toast of runways across the globe. He attended the Leeds-based Savile Row Academy to train as a tailor.
Before having a delve into the fashion world, Atafo has had stints in Market Research, Sales and distribution, Innovation, Projects, and Brand Management with several multinational companies. This adroit branding greatly benefited the ATAFO brand, as the brand is currently one of the best to come out of Africa.
Atafo rose to the limelight following the styling of fuji musician Pasuma and Ex-beauty queen; Omowunmi Akinifes in a competitive dance reality TV show created by Spirit Of David Gospel Dance Company. The show was called ‘Celebrity Takes 2’.
Walking across the corridor of entertainment, the award-winning fashion designer has over the years compered many shows, like the 2010 Miss Nigeria Pageant alongside Agbani Darego, City People Fashion and Style Award, Face of Sleek Model Competition, Etisalat Masterbrand Re-launch, and more recently Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards in Uganda and Glitz Style Awards in Ghana.
With his raving exuberance in creative fashion across Africa, the 44-year-old bespoke fashion designer is a recipient of recognitions across the continent. Some of them include Fashion Designer of the year – West Africa at 2016 Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards; Lifestyle/Style Fashion Icon Achievement Award at 2017 Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards; Designer of the year at 2013 GLITZ, etc.
