Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam, known as Akon, is a Senegalese-American singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and actor from New Jersey.

Akon is an entrepreneur, as he has a cryptocurrency/digital wallet called ‘Akoin Cryptocurrency’. He is also a great philantropist, especially in the Africa continent setting with a project called ‘Akon Lighting Africa’. This non-commercial project aims to provide electricity by solar energy in Africa. This project has since 2014 started its operations in 14 Africa countries including Guinea, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Benin and Sierra Leone.
