Efetobor Apochi: Celebrating Black Excellence In Boxing

Just a few Africans have managed to imprint their names in hearts when it comes to global dominance on the international boxing scene. Super confident and ever passionate about boxing, Nigerian Pit Bull, Efetobor Apochi proudly stands amongst the noteworthy few. Efetobor Apochi is a Nigerian boxer, who competes in the cruiserweight division. He recently proved his superiority in his World Boxing Association (WBA) Cruiserweight title eliminator fight when he defeated Deon Nicholson by TKO in the third round in April 2021. As a boxer with so much fierce and power arm, Apochi is currently undefeated as he has had 11 knock outs winning streak since becoming a professional boxer. 

Born in 1987, Apochi has been enthused with boxing as he started as an amateur boxer representing Nigeria in several international tournaments. 

The Delta State native made his international boxing debut at the 2011 All-Africa Games, at where he won a silver medal at the tourney. Hand-picked to compete in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Apochi claimed the bronze medal in 2015. He also claimed the heavyweight silver medal at the 2015 African Games and a bronze meal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Some of which the Nigerian Pit Bull has stunned in his 11-win bouts are Joe Jones, Eric Abraham, Larry Pryor, and others.

Apochi holds a bachelor’s in microbiology from the Federal University of Technology Owerri.
