From rolling sleeves in the baking world to Heavyweight Champ! At just 27, Efe Ajagba, popularly known as The One and Only or better yet King Kong, standing at an intimidating height of 6 ft 6 not only dominates physically but in the boxing ring as well, proudly claiming title of the fastest victory in boxing history. After being scouted at the Olympics and brought to Houston, Texas, Ajagba launched his professional career.
15 fights, 15 wins, the Delta State born kicked off his boxing career in 2011 after previously playing football for a club in Ughelli since 2005. In 2014, Ajagba was selected to compete for the Nigerian team at the 2014 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow; he won bronze after being defeated by Joseph Goodall of Australia. A year later at the 2015 African Games in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, he proved himself once more winning a gold medal.
2016 further established Efe Ajagba, impressing critics and transitioning from the amateur label. Yet again, he won the gold medal in the super heavyweight African Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament held in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Thereby qualifying to represent Nigeria at the 2016 Summer Olympics set for in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
August 2018 and history was rewritten after Ajagba scored the fastest victory in boxing in a match against Curtis Harper, winning in one second via disqualification after Harper walked out of the ring in protest over a pay dispute.
Many years have passed since his professional debut in the world of boxing and with confidence, passion and brutal knockouts to prove, Efe Ajagba keeps growing his reputation, steadily building his way up as one of boxing’s greatest talents .
On 7 March, 2020, Ajagba fought Razvan Cojanu. In each round he dismantled his opponent until the referee had step in, ending the fight and Ajagba emerging victorious.
2021 and yes, there’s no slowing down, the Nigerian Heavyweight continue to rack up more wins, winning hearts and earning himself a new nickname in comparisons with former WBC king Deontay Wilder during the knockout of Brian Howard.
