Woman Crush Wednesday (WCW): Monica Musonda

Monica Katebe Musonda is a Zambian lawyer cum entrepreneur. She bagged her first degree at the University of Zambia, before proceeding to study at the University of London.

Working as a successful lawyer, she later met Aliko Dangote (Chairman of Dangote group and the richest black man in the world), who changed the narrative of her career path with a piece of advice to delve into business. Yielding to this persuasion, she went on to champion a food-processing company based in Zambia which intends to supply high quality food at low cost. She started her early food production with noodles product, but went bigger to produce a breakfast snack and Num Num’s corn snacks.

Musonda current occupy the seat on the jury of the Cartier Women’s Initiative, and she was appointed by the UN Secretary General to assist in the organizing the “Scaling Up Nutrition Movement”.

In recognition of her entrepreneurial prowess, Musonda won the 2017 African Agribusiness Entrepreneur of the Year award.
