Zain Ejiofor Asher is a Nigerian British journalist. She is a news anchor at CNN International and currently anchors the network’s primetime, global news show “One World with Zain Asher.”
Born in 1983, Zain Asher had a foray into journalism having had a stint as a reporter at News 12 Brooklyn, in the United States, where she covered local news. She also worked as a reporter for Money, where she wrote personal finance articles about careers and investing before moving to CNN.
Zain had a breakthrough in 2012 when she started her career journey at CNN, as an anchor and reporter. Notable of her report coverage was the August 2020 explosion in Beirut, the End SARS protests in Nigeria, and the deaths of Fidel Castro, Muhammad Ali, and George Michael.
As a writer, Zain authored “Where The Children Take Us,” which is scheduled to be published in April 2022. The book was inspired by her 2015 Tedx talk “Trust Your Struggle”, which has been viewed 2.2 million times on YouTube as of 2022.
The 38-year-old journalist holds a degree in degree in French and Spanish from Oxford University. She is also an alumnus of the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University, in New York City.
Zain was in 2021 named an honorary fellow of Keble College, Oxford University.
