Tomi Adeyemi is an African by guided moral, but an American with disposition. Born in the United States in 1993 to Nigerian parents, she has indelibly crystallized her name on the slate of lustrous of young adult fiction and fantasy writers. Adeyemi wrote her first story at age 5, and has since been remarkably brilliant with her literary works. At her senior year, Adeyemi was the recipient of the Rani Sharma scholarship before proceeding to study English Literature at Harvard University.
Adeyemi’s bestselling book “Children of Blood and Bone” stems from the experience she had while studying West African Mythology and Culture in Salvador, Brazil, on a fellowship. However, this debut novel of her went on to become number 1 on The New York Times Young Adult Hardcover Bestseller List. The book garnered huge success, as it was awarded the 2018 Andre Norton Award for Young Adult Science Fiction and Fantasy, and is a finalist for the 2019 Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book.
With the purchase of the film adaptation right to the book by Fox 2000, Adeyemi was able to smile home with approximately seven figures.
Complementing her adroit experience as a novelist, Adeyemi teaches creative writing through her online course, The Writer’s Roadmap. Her second book “Children of Virtue and Vengeance” became a Number 1 New York Times Bestseller in 2019.
In September, Adeyemi was listed among The 100 Most Influential People of 2020 by Time 100.
