When it comes to Africa music with some concord of Afropop and highlife, Becca is a big shot to reckon with. Enjoying a prospectus music ride for over a decade, this paragon of black girl magic has paid her dues as far as Africa music and philanthropy is concerned.
Born Rebecca Akosua Acheampomaa Acheampong, Becca is a Ghanaian music sensation who has shown huge enthusiasm in music since her childhood by showcasing her vocal dexterity at talent hunt shows. Her debut studio album “Sugar” was released in 2007 and gave Becca a meteoric rise to stardom. The album earned her five nominations at the 2008 Ghana Music Awards, and the album’s lead single “You Lied to Me” won Record of the Year at the awards event. Becca’s second studio album “Time 4 Me” corroborates her success by going on to get certified 2x platinum in Ghana.
As an epitome of Black woman beauty, her single “Africa Woman” appeared as a plus on the album, as the song is a melodic ode to the strength and character of African women across the world.
The 36-year-old graduate from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration has widely worked with several artistes across the Africa continent to promote Black culture and relevance through the art of music.
Outside the world of music, Becca’s keen interest in service to humanity can’t go unnoticed as she established a rescue organization which raises funds to help children affected by HIV/AIDS in Ghana. She was in 2014 appointed as a Goodwill ambassador for UNAIDS.
In rewarding her artistic disposition towards entertainment in Ghana and Africa, Becca is a recipient of awards like Kora Award, National Youth Achievers Award, and Ghana Music Awards.
