Born on March 15, 1961, on Mahé Island, Ramkalawan grew up in a working-class family where values of hard work and integrity were deeply ingrained. Then, in 2020, history was made. With 54.9% of the vote, he defeated incumbent President Danny Faure, marking the first peaceful transfer of power in Seychelles’ modern history.
