Tupac Shakur to be honoured Posthumously with Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

On June 7, award-winning musician and actor Tupac Shakur, better known as 2pac, will get a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Walk of Fame announced this in a statement on Wednesday, adding that Shakur would be given a star in the category of recording.

Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Ana Martinez, said, “Tupac Shakur was a rapper, actor, activist, poet, and revolutionary, this iconic artist has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come. Surely, as one of L.A. Tupac’s star will be added to the list of most visited stars.”

The announcement also comes just a few weeks before the late rapper’s 52nd birthday.

Tupac has sold 75 million records worldwide and is well known throughout the world for his unique blend of music, art, and activism.

Allen Hughes, the celebrated filmmaker and creator of the critically acclaimed docuseries, will serve as emcee for the star revealing ceremony. “Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur” that is now streaming on F/X and Hulu.

The family will accept the star on behalf of Shakur through her sister Sekyiwa Shakur.

Tupac lost his life in gun violence In 1996.

His albums “All Eyez on Me” and “Greatest Hits” both received Diamond certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Tupac’s life continues to have an impact on and affect culture today as one of hip-hop’s most recognisable icons. His life has been used extensively for educational reasons in universities and schools around the world.
