Man Crush Monday: Frank Rajah Arase

Frank Rajah Efosa Arase is a Nigerian movie actor. He was born in Benin City, South-Southern part of Nigeria, grew up in Lagos at where he started his movie career.

His drive into entertainment world began at a very young age he was once a dancer for the National Theatre Troupe, and a one-time Nollywood actor. Arase’s passion to be the brain behind some Nollywood movies offshoots him to delve into directing movies. As a successful film director on Nigeria soil, Arase was given a contract to make Ghanaian actors get introduced to the mainstream of the Nollywood film industry and hit at stardom just like Nigerian movie stars.

This collaboration between Arase and Abdul Salam Mumuni of Venus Films birthed the limelight for Ghanaian movie stars like Van Vickie, Nadia Buari, Jackie Appiah, John Dumelo, Majid Michel, Kalsoume Sinare, Koffi Adjololo, among others. With these Ghanaian actors gaining prominence in the Nollywood scene, Arase’s contract was further extended by two years, and at this time got actors like Frank Artus, Martha Ankomah, Yvonne Nelson, and Juliet Ibrahim to join the league of Ghanaian shining stars in the Nollywood film industry.

Arase winning 2018 AMAA awards as the Best Director

The Edo native has directed several blockbuster movies with and after his contract with Venus films. He was a nominee for Best Director at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards. In 2018, Arase won the AMAA awards in the category of Best Director.
