Gambian VP Dies in India after Short Illness

President Adama Barrow of The Gambia has reported that Vice-President Badara Alieu Joof passed away in India.

The vice president passed away after a brief illness, but Mr. Barrow didn’t say whether he was getting care in India.

According to BBC’s Omar Wally in the nation’s capital, Banjul, Mr. Joof had not been seen in public for months.

After winning a second term in December 2021, Mr. Barrow chose him to serve as vice president.
