Meet Mr. Ade Adeyemi and Mr. Abimbola Okubena, two amazing personalities from the Western region of Nigeria who are setting the pace for others to follow both in the banking sector and healthcare sector.

Ade Adeyemi: CEO, Eco Bank Group

Ade Adeyemi is a highly skilled banker with a lengthy and fruitful career in the banking industry. He once held the position of Chief Executive Officer for Citigroup’s Johannesburg-based sub-Saharan Africa division.

He was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the Eco Bank Group in 2015 and held the position until his retirement in 2022 at the age of 60.

On 4th of December, 2020, Adeyemi joined the Board of Director of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), the parent company of the Ecobank Group.

Throughout his service year, Adeyemi’s extensive expertise, clear vision, dedication, and limitless desire were unmatched. Many even recalled how much fun it was to work with him.

Adeyemi dot his ‘i’ and crossed his ‘t’ when it comes to getting the right certification for his career. He received a Bachelor of Science degree with First Class Honours in Accounting from the University of Ife, which is now known as Obafemi Awolowo University, in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Additionally, he attended the University of London, and he graduated from the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.

Mr. Ayeyemi, a chartered accountant, is also a skilled UNIX administrator and network operating systems manager. Business strategy, economics, process engineering, and technology are among his numerous interests.

According to Ecobank Group Chairman Alain Nkontchou, Adeyemi was a guy who effectively oversaw “the implementation of the Roadmap to Leadership strategy, navigating Ecobank through challenges, seizing opportunities, and positioning Ecobank for sustainable long-term growth.”

Abimbola Okubena: Co-Founder, Jobelyn INC.

Abimbola is one of the co-founders of the excellent and innovative natural product known as JOBELYN, a multipurpose natural dietary supplement made from Sorghum bicolor. His desire for using herbal remedies to treat medical conditions was inspired by his curiosity and the knowledge he gained from visiting his grandparents frequently as a young child.

According to him, “When we go to the village to visit grannies and grand papas, they would sometimes give us herbal concoctions for headaches, dysentery, malaria etc. In few hours after taking this rather bitter solution, you start to feel wonderful and alive.”

Alongside his position at Jobelyn, Abimbola is also the owner of Technocorp. Technocorp is a Telecommunication Network Organisation established in 2003. He is also the Chief Operating Officer of Health Forever Product Limited, the manufacturer of Jobelyn. Prior to this, he worked as the Vice President at Marbell Energy Limited between October 2012 and August 2020. He also worked as the Chief Executive Officer of Hains Herbal Product from Oct 2010-August 2020.

Abimbola bagged his first degree in chemical engineering from the University of Ife (Now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1991 and proceeded to the University of Southampton in 2001 where he had a diploma in marketing in 2002. He bagged his executive MBA in marketing in the same insititution in 2007 and in 2008, he obtained an executive MBA in marketing/marketing management from Cranfield School of Management in 2007.

When not educating people on the essentiality of healthy living, Abimbola loves play Tennis.

Abimbola Okubena is happily married to Kofoworola Abiru.
