Among the well-known Nigerians named as beneficiaries of the 2023 national awards are Afrobeats musician David Adeleke aka Davido and acclaimed film director Kunle Afolayan.
In each of their numerous cadres, the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs announced the winners.
The accolade of Officer Of The Order of The Niger (OON) was given to Davido, renowned for his beautiful afrobeats compositions.
The OON was also given to Afolayan, a muilti award-winning movie producer whose works are largely credited with paving the way for a fresh take on Nollywood.
Victor Osimhen of Napoli and the Super Eagles also made the list since he was given the MFR (Member of The Order of Federal Republic) for his outstanding season with the Partenopei, which helped them win their first Serie A championship in 33 years.
Terry Waya, a Nigerian socialite, businessman and father to the renowned entrepreneur and reality television sensation who competed in the “Lockdown” fifth season of Big Brother Naija in 2020, Kiddwaya also received an award from the OFR (Order of the Federal Republic) cadre.
Before May 31, the ministry requested that each award recipient deliver a soft copy of their commendation or resume.
The recipients must also show up in person to pick up their medals and certificates on June 1, 2023, as required by the ministry.
