BBC announces Award-Winning Waihiga Mwaura as New Presenter for ‘Focus’

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) at mid-day today announced the resumption of the seasoned Kenyan journalist, Waihiga Mwaura as the new presenter for ‘Focus’ on Africa TV, an event which they tagged “a first for the programme”.

BBC took to their social media handle to share the exciting news:

“We’re thrilled to introduce our new presenter for Focus on Africa TV, Waihiga Mwaura. A former BBC News Komla Dumor award winner, and well-respected journalist, he will present the show from Africa – a first for the programme – highlighting our commitment to getting closer to audiences across the continent. Welcome Waihiga, we’re excited to have you 🎉

39-year-old Waihiga Mwaura bagged a bachelor’s degree in computer science before proceeding to African Nazarene University where he got a master’s degree in communications.

Mwaura won the CNN’s “African Journalist Award, Sport Award in 2012.” In 2015, he won the “Mohammed Amin Africa award” and in 2018, Mwaura won the BBC World News Komla Dumor Award.

Mwaura is married to Joyce Omondi, a gospel singer.
