by Duke Magazine

When it comes to the world of fashion designing in Africa and the world at large, Lisa Folawiyo is a strong force to reckon with. Notable for having a tapestry showcasing West African textiles with the use of modern tailoring techniques, she is indeed one woman too many creativities.

Having studied Law in the University of Lagos, Nigeria, she woke her fashion entrepreneurial dream by founding her label, Jewel by Lisa, in 2005.

Her red exuberance in fashion has poised her to achieving great feats in the showbiz. Her pieces has been worn far and wide by influential personalities and celebrities. Also, Folawiyo’s collection has been at exhibitions in the United States, United Kingdom, South Africa, and Nigeria.

There is no way influential and creative black fashion designers would be mentioned, and Lisa Folawiyo’s artistic works on textile print would not be munched on.

To her successful career in the world of fashion, Folawiyo is a recipient of honors and awards. In 2012, she was featured in Vogue Italia. Also, the 45-year-old fashion-preneur won the 2012 African Fashion Award and was featured in 2015 BOF500.
